The Fantasy Poker Challenge: A League of Your Own
Get your head out of the clouds and log on to Bluff’s fabulous Fantasy Poker Challenge to win top prizes.
The staff of Bluff Magazine has spent the summer fantasizing about poker tournaments and free holidays in the sun. Rather than spend our days building air castles, however, we decided to put together the world’s first and only Fantasy Poker Challenge, in which poker fans are encouraged to explore their own poker related reveries and compile a dream team of poker aces who they feel can win them the holiday of a lifetime in the beautiful Bahamas.
The Fantasy Poker Challenge, like poker itself, is a game of wit, cunning and a sizable portion of luck; except that here you’re using your favorite poker stars as chips. It works like any regular sports fantasy league and it’s free to play. Simply log on to
where you will be allotted a certain number of ‘fantasy dollars’ with which to purchase four professional poker players. Then follow their fortunes in a real life, and often televised poker tournament and score points based on the amount of prize money they win. The Fantasy Team with the most points will be the Grand Prize Winner and will be off to Fantasy Island. Runners up will receive free subscriptions to our esteemed publication, and other prizes including poker chips, poker training software, or anything else poker that we can get our little hands on.
Naturally, all the great stars are there to choose from, and can be traded and swapped along the way as they increase and decrease in value. It’s like the stock exchange: but fun. The Fantasy Poker Challenge is almost like you’re buying into the tournament yourself.
Jeff Markley, the genius behind the project, said that he is the definitive ‘fantasy football and baseball nut’ and, to him, fantasy poker was simply a natural progression following the poker craze engulfing this planet of ours. “Poker’s so big now: so many fans, so many great characters in the sport – it just made perfect sense.” And Jeff seems to be right: We reckon the world has gone a bit poker-loco recently. A project that was launched tentatively, with next to no marketing, is spreading like wildfire- mainly by word of mouth. The Challenge has only been going on for a few months and it’s getting massively popular; in fact, we’re a little worried we’ve started some kind of craze.
But get your skates on, because it won’t be free forever. We intend to up the ante soon - but that’s all right because, as all poker fans know, that means bigger and bigger pots and bigger and bigger prizes. So, log on, register, get your chips on the table, and enjoy.
